New Hanover Regional Medical Center Recognized as Million Hearts® Health System

CDC, in collaboration with NACDD, is proud to recognize New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC), located in Wilmington, NC, as a Million Hearts®Health System. New Hanover Regional Medical Center is being recognized for their efforts in keeping people healthy, optimizing care, improving outcomes for priority populations, and innovating for health. Million Hearts®commends New Hanover Regional Medical Center for their commitment to improving the cardiovascular health of its patients, employees, and the community it serves. More information about NHRMC’s efforts to prevent heart attacks and strokes can be found here.
NHRMC is being recognized for the following:

  • Supporting community and employee heart health
  • Improving outpatient services related to ABCS (aspirin, blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking cessation)
  • Referring patients to cardiac rehabilitation services 

NACDD encourages State Health Departments to share NHRMC’s success with their heart disease and stroke, nutrition/physical activity and tobacco control programs, encouraging outreach to local hospitals and health systems to support them in seeking recognition of their own. The Million Hearts®Hospitals and Health Systems Recognition Programprovides an opportunity to acknowledge and share the insights and contributions of hospitals and health systems nationwide in efforts to prevent heart attacks and strokes.
