Since 2021, NACDD’s Building Resilient Inclusive Communities (BRIC) program within the Center for Advancing Healthy Communities has funded 20 states to address food and nutrition security, safe physical activity access, and social connectedness through a policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) approach. Health equity and social justice principles are integrated throughout the training and technical assistance provided to BRIC states as well as states’ action plans. In the past two years, multiple BRIC states have planned statewide trainings for their partner networks on health equity to expand awareness around meaningfully operationalizing equity and advancing equity considerations in policymaking, and program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Now in its third year, the BRIC program continues to support states and communities in infusing equity and inclusion into training efforts and conversations around policy. Visit the BRIC program webpage to stay connected to ongoing learnings and resources.
Specific examples from BRIC states are highlighted below.
