The Lupus Foundation of America Launches Online Self-Management Program

Lupus Foundation of America's new appNACDD partner, Lupus Foundation of America (LFA), has released a new companion app to LFA’s Strategies to Embrace Living with Lupus Fearlessly (SELF) online self-management program, which is now available in the Apple and Google stores!

The SELF online program, launched in January 2022, has supported over 2,500 people with lupus in living their best lives. Using behavior change science, SELF helps users build their skills in disease self-management. SELF also offers tools for self-management like a medication tracker, symptom tracker, and journal.

Over the past year and a half, SELF users have asked for the convenience and accessibility of a mobile app.

In addition to the new mobile app, SELF offers new features including synchronization between the user symptom tracker and user journal. Whenever a user submits a new entry into the symptom tracker, the same information is replicated in the user’s journal providing the ability to track symptoms alongside triggers and behavior changes giving the user a more complete picture of their lupus experience.

LFA has also redesigned the SELF medication tracker by incorporating a plan for action into the medication entry form as well as auto-completion functionality for spelling difficult medication names and common dosages.

The accessibility and reach of the new mobile app will give many more people with lupus the opportunity to take control of their disease.

The SELF app is not replacing the SELF online program. New and pre-existing users can access their information online and through the mobile app. A userā€™s tracker, journal, and skill-building activities are reflected in both SELF online and the SELF app. Each user is in the driver’s seat and can choose how and when to use SELF.

SELF can be accessed online at self.lupus.org (login page) or downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
