Offer the Cuff Celebrates 300th Issue

Impact Brief – September 2022

NACDD’s cardiovascular health newsletter Off the Cuff reached a milestone in September! On Sept. 12 the 300th issue of the weekly newsletter was sent to more than 500 federal, national, state, territorial, and local public health professionals working to improve cardiovascular health. The NACDD CVH Team gathers, organizes, and systematically disseminates information to support public health professionals, thus forming a communication network. The purpose of Off the Cuff remains the same in issue 300 as it did in the first issue—to provide resources, tools, peer engagement offerings, and other immediately relevant information for public health professionals funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to address heart disease and stroke prevention.

More about Off the Cuff

The Off the Cuff newsletter helps to maintain a virtual health systems network to support federal, national, state, territorial, and local public health professionals’ implementation of cardiovascular efforts. Since November 2015, the number of subscribers has more than doubled to its current number of more than 500. The CVH Council keeps the newsletter format relevant by providing input on Off the Cuff at least annually, ensuring that the newsletter meets the needs of the subscribers.

Items in the newsletter are brief and organized under these topics:

  • CVH Area Network News: This sectionshares links for upcoming calls, successes, and resources from the eight area networks. All CDC funded states and local health departments belong to an area network that meets quarterly.
  • Evaluation Peer Network News specifically shares news and resources for evaluators and epidemiologists working on CDC funded grants related to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This group meets every other month; Off the Cuff provides links to register for these calls as well as resources shared following the calls.
  • Calls & Webinars Worth Your Time: This highlights NACDD, CDC, and national partner learning opportunities. Events include webinars, fireside chats, and virtual roundtables occurring in the coming weeks that are pertinent for program, epidemiology, and evaluation staff working in the areas of heart disease and stroke prevention.
