CVH Council Engages in Thoughtful Disussions with CDC Leadership

The CVH Council, with support from the NACDD CVH team, is a virtual network of all CDC-funded state and local partners and their contractors addressing cardiovascular disease prevention and management. The CVH Council Leadership Team consists of:

  • Chair, Thelma Reis (AZ)
  • Chair-Elect, Nicole Hamlet (VT)
  • Past Chair, Jim Peacock (MN)
  • Health Equity Liaison, Ashley Minaei (AK) and
  • CVH Area Network Liaisons

While in Denver, the Leadership Team engaged in thoughtful discussions with CDC’s leadership, Dr. Janet Wright and Dr. Letitia Presley-Cantrell, in order to identify areas of support needed by states to improve cardiovascular health outcomes among priority populations.

Key goals achieved during this meeting included:

  • Program Evolution: Discuss expansion and enhancements of current NACDD and CVH Council peer engagement, leadership opportunities, and strategic communications.
  •  Knowledge Sharing: Discuss state successes, mechanisms for sharing promising practices, and supporting excellence in cardiovascular health.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Identify opportunities for continued collaboration among NACDD, CDC, and states over the next 18 months.

The CVH Council is open to all NACDD members and routinely provides peer-to-peer support opportunities. To learn more about the CVH Council, please visit the website.
