This course curriculum is intended to help health departments and other users of clinical data identify the fundamentals of clinical data capture and electronic health record (EHR) systems and identify strengths and limitations of using clinical data for public health surveillance.

Each training module contains an overview of the topic, short lecture video, knowledge check questions, and supplemental resources. The content is intended to be introductory and foundational, and you do not need to have any previous experience working with clinical data. You may skip any module you believe is too basic and complete modules in any order you prefer.
