Colorectal Cancer Control Program Convene Virtual Training Program

Colorectal Cancer Control Program Virtual Training Convened Over 300 Awardees and Their Partners.

The NACDD-led Cancer Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Learning Program, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), hosted a two-day virtual training that convened 311 CDC Colorectal Cancer Control Program (CRCCP) awardees and their partners in early November 2022.

The customized virtual training platform offered attendees an experience that fostered a sense of community through peer learning, problem-solving, networking, and sharing of program tools and resources for increasing colorectal cancer screening (CRCS). The focus of the training was to REflect on the program work during the last two years, REcommit to the mission of supporting CRCS nationally, and REignite the passion to accelerate CRCS success.

The virtual training offered attendees 58 speakers over 23 total sessions and included virtual exhibit booths highlighting all 35 CRCCP awardee programs that included chat and sharing features to encourage a peer-to-peer exchange of ideas.  Deeper dive breakout sessions on six topics provided awardees the opportunity to advance their knowledge in a topic of interest while dialoguing with colleagues and experts.  Partner health systems, clinics, and external organizations that support CRCCP work were invited to attend day two of the virtual training, and they were recognized for their role in achieving screening success.  Videos and multi-media were used throughout the virtual training to highlight the programs and tell the story of the CRCCP.

Attendee interactions over the two days on the virtual platform initiated 2,183 virtual booth visits, 26,228 documents downloaded from the virtual exhibit booths, and 470 virtual booth chats. An online archive of all content from the virtual training is available to the P2P Learning NBCCEDP and CRCCP awardees including recordings of all plenaries, panels, and deeper dive sessions as well as offering a home for all virtual exhibit booth content and speaker bios.
