‘Bring Your Brave’ Honored as a Finalist in Health, Non-Profit Community Engagement for the 3rd Annual Anthem Awards

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is pleased to announce the ‘Bring Your Brave’ campaign, which shares vital information about breast cancer to women under 45, has been named a Finalist in the Health, Non-Profit Community Engagement category at the Third Annual Anthem Awards.

NACDD partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Red Glass Pictures to create the Bring Your Brave campaign, which includes a suite of digital resources to support family discussions on known or unknown family history of cancer and cancer prevention strategies. The campaign provides information about breast cancer to women younger than age 45 by sharing real stories about young women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the U.S., and nine percent of all cases are reported in this age group.

“NACDD is honored to have Bring Your Brave selected as a finalist in this year’s Anthem Awards,” said John W. Robitscher, Chief Executive Officer of NACDD. “The campaign would not have been possible without successful collaboration between our staff and consultants, our partners in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control at the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at CDC, and Redglass Pictures. NACDD is grateful for their support and partnership!”

Risk for breast cancer among young women varies based on factors such as family and personal history of cancer. The more patients know about their family’s history of cancer, the better they can understand and address their risk. Finding ways to make these conversations easier and more productive can improve patient health outcomes.

The Anthem Awards was launched to celebrate and highlight the incredible social impact work happening around the world. The Third Annual competition received over 2,000 entries from more than 30 countries worldwide. By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards are defining a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their communities. A portion of program revenue is allocated to Anthem’s grant program, The Anthem Fund.

Winners for the Third Annual Anthem Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
