Impact Brief – July 2022
The CVH Council continues to grow and evolve as a new Leadership Team sets strategy to support states in cardiovascular health promotion and prevention in the next 18 months. The CVH Council has recently launched a refreshed website spotlighting the Councilās Leadership Team which includes Chair, James Peacock (MN); Chair-Elect Thelma Reis (AZ); and our recently appointed liaison to the Health Equity Council, Nicole Hamlet (VT). Members of the council recently shared video testimonials that emphasize the benefit of joining the CVH Council, the value it adds to the work of state heart disease and stroke prevention staff, and how the council can help with workload management. The testimonials are complimented by a newly released CVH Council Orientation Packet.
The CVH Council, which includes the Evaluation Peer Network and the CVH Area Network, met in May 2022 for a strategic planning session for the next 12-18 months. The CVH Council website will soon house a report highlighting the six strategic priority areas identified during the strategic planning session, including:
- Data: Collection, Measurement, and Dissemination
- Health Systems and Upstream Factors
- Health Equity
- Education/Professional Development
- Communication
- Interventions
- Policy Opportunities
- Strategic Communications
- Grant Writing Support
With support from the CVH team, the CVH Council Leadership team will continue to develop and implement the subsequent action steps associated with the above priority areas. The CVH Council will continue to offer innovative learning opportunities for heart disease and stroke programs and will work closely with other NACDD Councils and national partners, prioritizing topics and identifying ways the CVH Council can support practice-based learning opportunities focused on cardiovascular health and health equity.
