NACDD received CDC continuation funding for the Disability Network for Tobacco Control and Cancer Prevention cooperative agreement. The Disability Network aims to advance the prevention of commercial tobacco use and cancer in populations experiencing tobacco- and cancer-related health effects with a focus on people with disabilities (PWD), including U.S. veterans. The “Network” brings together national, state, and local partners focused on tobacco control and cancer prevention for people with disabilities. In addition to creating and growing the Network, NACDD convenes an advisory board and communities of practice (CoP) to support community-based policy, systems, and environmental (PSE) change; provides comprehensive training and technical assistance (T/TA); and supports a mass-reach health communication strategy.
In Year 3, the Disability Network will continue to support the efforts of the advisory board, launch a new CoP focused on Disability Access in Tobacco Treatment, implement a mass media campaign focused on reaching PWD who want to quit using tobacco, and provide T/TA to state health departments.
