Heather Murphy serves as the lead consultant at the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors for the Arthritis project and provides additional support to the Disabilities and Healthy Communities Project as well as for other grants from the Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support.

Heather has a degree in Community and School Health Education, with a certification in Gerontology. She has been in the field of public health for more than 20 years, including 14 years with the Florida Department of Health, spending the last eight years in chronic disease prevention.

Her work for the past six years has included advocacy and policy work for Safe Routes to School National Partnership, focusing on the reduction of childhood obesity and examining third party payer systems for evidence-based interventions with the Florida Alliance of YMCAs.

Heather lives in sunny north Florida with her husband, two daughters, a dog, two cats, and a horse.
