NACDD works collaboratively with CDC, the Endocrine Society, and the Partnership for Accurate Testing of Hormones (PATH) to improve the quality of laboratory measurements for chronic disease biomarkers. Three workgroups established to complete the work focus on the following areas:
- Educating clinicians, particularly at national professional meetings, about the ways inaccurate hormone tests impact their medical practice;
- Reaching out through a congressional briefing to describe the impact of inaccurate testing on patients, timely diagnosis, and unnecessary healthcare costs; and
- Redesigning the PATH website to reach a broad audience, including patients and the media. The site is planned to be in place prior to the congressional briefing.
The Steering Committee plans to broaden PATH membership by conducting outreach to potential new members during fall 2017.
