Impact Brief – September 2022
The National Hypertension Control Roundtable (NHCR) was formed in 2021 to lead the national dialogue around collaborative strategies to (1) eliminate disparities in hypertension control and (2) improve control rates in the United States.
NACDD has been a proud member of the NHCR since its inception.
On Sept. 15 and 16, NHCR hosted its 2nd annual summit titled, âAct for Equityâ featuring distinguished speakers and presenters with a wide range of specialties and perspectives to help inform strategies for your heart disease and stroke prevention efforts.Â
The summit was designed to inform actions the Roundtable will take to eliminate disparities in hypertension control. Participants will strategize together on ways to translate dialogue to action and advance proven and innovative strategies to eliminate disparities in control rates.
The summit was convened with a keynote presentation, âHypertension in Women Across the Lifespanâ delivered by Nanette K. Wenger, MD and included several sessions across the following topics:
- Women & Hypertension: Evidence-based strategies for systems change
- Innovative Community-Clinical Partnerships for Health Equity
- Engaging Employers in Hypertension Prevention and Control: A Conversation with Business Leaders
Session topics were developed to assist participants in:
- Describing evidenced-based strategies and system-level changes that improve hypertension control in women across the lifespan
- Considering how personal technology can be used to promote hypertension control, by drawing lessons from an innovative pilot project with barbershop and salon owners.
- Identifying promising practices regarding the ways that health professionals can partner with employers to promote hypertension control.
