NACDD has kicked off its work with eight states that chose diabetes prevention as a focus for the CDC’s 6|18 initiative, which is a national effort that targets six common and costly health conditions with 18 proven interventions. Medicaid and public health representatives from eight states will focus on Medicaid coverage for the National DPP lifestyle change program. These states include California, Indiana, Kentucky, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.
We are working in partnership with the CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT) and Leavitt Partners to support these states on their path to Medicaid coverage for the National DPP lifestyle change program through a 6|18 Peer Learning Collaborative delivered via six interactive webinars. This collaborative will focus on topics such as state options and strategies for Medicaid coverage, contracting between Medicaid managed care organizations and CDC-recognized organizations, and strategies and best practices for engaging Medicaid beneficiaries in the program.
