Fast-growing coalition embraces tangible actions to help prepare the U.S. for the next public health emergency
The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is proud to join healthcare leaders from across the country in committing to action that will improve the way healthcare and public health work together, as members of the Common Health Coalition.
The mission of the nonprofit Common Health Coalition is to strengthen partnerships between U.S. healthcare organizations and public health systems. Founded by AHIP (formerly America’s Health Insurance Plans), the Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP), the American Hospital Association (AHA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and Kaiser Permanente, the Common Health Coalition is mobilizing lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic to strengthen the relationships between health care organizations and public health systems, two vitally important components of the U.S. health system that have long operated in parallel. The Coalition announced a pioneering set of commitments in March 2024 and has since grown to more than 50 members, which includes NACDD.
“NACDD is proud to join the Common Health Coalition along with partners in the public health and healthcare sectors. Through partnership and collaboration, we can work collectively to address some of the major health concerns of our time,” said John W. Robitscher, NACDD’s Chief Executive Officer. “As we combat rising rates of chronic disease in the U.S, such as type 2 diabetes and cancer, the need to work hand-in-hand with our partners is even more urgent.”
