Kia Toodle is the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Chronic Disease Prevention Section Director and Principal Investigator for eight CDC Cooperative Agreements. Ms. Toodle’s role is to prevent and control chronic disease through evidenced-strategies and interventions to support a better quality of life, improve overall health, economic, and educational outcomes for families and communities in Georgia. Her leadership spans five offices, overseeing an estimated 30 million dollars of federal and state funds. Ms. Toodle has over 30 years of diverse public health experience at the national, state, and local community level. Her last 23+ years have been with the Georgia Department of Public Health in various roles.
Ms. Toodle has a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Learning, Leadership, and Organization Development (LLOD) from the University of Georgia. She is also a Certified Public Manager (CPM) and a Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner. Ms. Toodle’s life-long passion is engaging with young people. She appeared in NewsWeek magazine for her efforts with helping youth navigate adolescents utilizing risk reduction strategies.
Ms. Toodle’s most proud accomplishment is being mother of Cameron Toodle – a recent Business Management graduate of North Carolina A &T State University. Her “son-shine.” She is also a 32-year member of the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Ms.Toodle was once asked to describe her leadership style. What came to mind was the song “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree. She later realized the lyrics embody her beyond her leadership.
