Helping People Live Their Healthiest Lives

NACDD and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion are elevating national efforts to advance health equity.

All people deserve to live their healthiest life. However, some people do not have equitable access to resources and opportunities due to unfair policies, practices, conditions, and differential treatment. This is why NACDD partnered with CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (the Center) to elevate how State and Local Health Departments, public health systems, and community organizations can work together to build healthier communities.

As an innovative leader in health equity, the Center encourages public health organizations to be a strong liaison in their communities. Public health professionals are uniquely positioned to bring together partners from multiple sectors such as transportation, healthcare, economic development, and others to strengthen the health of their communities.

We recently used a storytelling approach to highlight CDC-funded community partnerships that work to dismantle systemic and structural barriers that prevent people from living their healthiest lives. Leveraging channels like radio, television, and social media, we launched a research-informed media campaign to raise awareness about health equity. To date, the campaign has garnered more than 345 million impressions.

Three ways that you can join us in ensuring all Americans live their healthiest lives are:

    1. Watch and share these impactful real life stories.

    1. Use these communication tools to guide your messaging about health equity.

    1. Use your communication channels to tell the story about how you and your partners are creating more equitable communities.
