NACDD is pleased to announce that nine State Health Departments (SHDs) have been selected to participate in the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Training for Surveillance of Heart Disease, Stroke, and Other Chronic Diseases in State Health Departments. Funded by CDC’s Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention and led by the Children’s Environmental Health Initiative at the University of Illinois Chicago (CEHI), this long-standing training program provides participants with GIS skills to create maps to address heart disease, stroke, and other chronic disease priorities. The project includes high-level discussions with Chronic Disease Directors on leveraging GIS to advance chronic disease prevention in their states, as well as on using maps to tell specific stories in the most engaging ways.
NACDD extends congratulations to Arizona, California, Connecticut, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, and Wyoming.
