As a subject matter expert in the field of diabetes prevention, Joanna Craver DiBenedetto has promoted National Diabetes Prevention Program since 2012. Joanna has a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology and nutrition, a master’s degree in nonprofit management, and more than 10 years of experience in scaling public health initiatives including childhood and adult chronic disease prevention programs. In her previous role at the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) Joanna oversaw the AADE DP12-1212 cooperative agreement with CDC for scaling the National DPP through the network of DSME programs. In this work, she helped make connections between DPP programs and other stakeholders, such as state public health departments, employer groups, insurance groups and other leading DPP networks. In her new role, Joanna will utilize her extensive knowledge of the National DPP landscape and her training implementation experience to provide technical assistance for the National DPP Coverage Toolkit as well as support to the 6|18 selected states and Medicaid agencies as they work toward coverage of the National DPP lifestyle change program.
