The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) has released two new publications focused on strengthening student health and learning. The “Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model: A Guide to Implementation” is designed to support schools and school districts in the implementation of the WSCC model. NACDD conducted a webinar that highlighted the guide, which provided a strong example of local-level implementation.
NACDD is the first organization to develop an implementation guide specific to the WSCC model, which was released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and ASCD in 2014. The publication can support implementation efforts at the state and local levels, and may support a wide variety of users in these efforts such as: school administrators and staff; state and local health department staff; parents; and community members will find the publication useful in supporting implementation efforts at the state and local levels.
In addition, “Achieving Impact: State Successes in Improving School Nutrition, Physical Education, Physical Activity, and the Management of Chronic Health Conditions in Schools,” features the achievements of 15 states across the country, and select local districts/schools related to the implementation of 1305 State Public Health Actions, funded by the CDC.
