Web-based, peer-to-peer NACDD learning opportunities disseminate information about readiness assessment, partnership building, and lessons learned from successful examples within states on implementing and evaluating evidence-based, pediatric, healthy weight management programs in clinics, recreation centers, federally qualified health centers, and other venues.
NACDDâs work on a pilot project with the CDC Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity links Department of Defense State Coordinators and the Departmentâs Building Healthy Military Communities effort with chronic disease subject matter experts who are the state Chronic Disease Directors in the seven pilot states.
To assist CDC with monitoring progress among grantees implementing policies and programs to promote physical activity, NACDD convened an advisory council of national experts to provide input on the development and pilot testing of an assessment tool. Key informant interviews with state decision-makers are helping NACDD develop recommendations to CDC on effective communication strategies to support policy on large-scale, evidence-based nutrition and physical activity.
