Commitment to Health Equity

Reducing Risk and Promoting Brain Health in All Communities

Health equity is at the core of NACCD and our partners’ efforts to promote brain health across communities. We know that Alzheimer’s disease disproportionately affects Latinos, Black Americans, and women. Learn how NACDD and the Center for Brain Health Equity provide meaningful change by ensuring every community, especially those disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s, have access to resources and data-driven strategies.

Building Our Largest Dementia Infrastructure

Building Our Largest Dementia (BOLD) Infrastructure for Alzheimer’s Act was passed into law on December 31, 2018, and is designed to create a uniform national public health infrastructure with a focus on early detection and diagnosis, risk reduction, prevention of avoidable hospitalizations, and supporting dementia caregiving.

Public Health Programs Awardees

CDC has awarded 43 recipients with funding to increase awareness and understanding among the public (including populations of high burden), providers, and other professionals of ADRD topics corresponding to primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention. Like the Public Health Centers of Excellence, they utilize the HBI Road Map, the Road Map for Indian Country, and other guides to improve the response to ADRD in their communities.

Public Health Centers of Excellence

NACDD recognizes the collective strength required to make advancements in public health and works with national partners to make progress in several key areas. These Centers of Excellence play a vital role in identifying, translating, and disseminating promising research findings and evidence-informed best practices. Together, we can forge a path forward, implementing HBI Road Map initiatives with the support and collaboration of CDC, national partners, and state, local, and tribal health entities.
