Shaping the National Cancer Health Landscape

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) improves public health through collaborative activities focusing on prevention, risk reduction, and management of chronic diseases, including cancer.

For more than 20 years, NACDD has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and State, Territorial, and Tribal Health Departments to support cancer prevention and control initiatives. Our work is delivered through consultation, partnership development, technical assistance, peer learning, evaluation, and dissemination of best practices.

Cancer Council

Cancer program staff from State, Territorial, and Tribal Health Departments can participate in NACDD’s Cancer Council – a place to share their knowledge and experiences addressing cancer prevention and control. Members work together to identify emerging issues, problem-solve, and share best public health practices for a cancer-free tomorrow.

Technical Assistance and Projects

NACDD partners with CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control to develop public health strategies for cancer prevention and control. These projects make it easier for people to reduce carcinogen exposure and adopt healthy behaviors where they live, work, learn, and play.

Resources

Whether you work in a public health department, are a healthcare provider, or provide public health services to your community, NACDD offers resources to help you prevent and control cancer. These resources include policy briefs, educational storytelling, and tools for screening programs.

Cancer Prevention Across the Lifespan

Cancer Prevention Across the Lifespan focuses on topics at the intersection of cancer risk and health equity, including environmental contaminants, adverse childhood experiences, and specific populations’ unique needs and concerns.

Cancer Screening Change Packages

Cancer screening is one of the most powerful tools we have to help lower the risk of cancer.

NACDD is a proud partner in the development of CDC’s Cancer Screening Change Packages. Change packages provide actionable tools to help healthcare providers and their public health partners save more lives through screening activities.

Reduce Environmental and Occupational Cancer Risks

Did you know environmental injustice is strongly linked to health inequity? Launched in 2024, NACDD’s new toolkit provides information, research, and actions steps to help public health professionals reduce cancer risks in marginalized communities.
