Julia Schneider, MPH
Cardiovascular Health
Julia Schneider is a public health consultant with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD), where she supports initiatives addressing hypertension control, Million HeartsĀ®, and cardiovascular health. Julia Schneider serves as the co-lead for the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Assistance to State Health Departments project. With Miriam Patanian and the CVH team, she supports the CVH Council and the broader CVH Network. Julia provides leadership for learning opportunities that are identified in collaboration with the CVH Network, and CDCās Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. In addition, she works closely with Susan Svencer and the CDC Million Hearts team to develop, execute, and promote the Million Hearts Hospitals and Health Systems Recognition Program. She also is active with the Million Hearts Collaboration, a group of organizations led by the American Heart Association.
Julia has more than 15 years of experience working in state public health policy. She coordinated development of deliverables for the CDC obesity guidance project that included interviews with rural states and practitioners working on reducing disparities. Prior to joining NACDD, Julia was the Director of Chronic Disease Prevention at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), where she managed several cooperative agreements supported by CDCās National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Julia oversaw training and technical assistance to State Health Departments on Million HeartsĀ®, school wellness, sodium reduction, tobacco control, healthy eating and active living.
Julia has a BS in Biology from the University of Maryland and attended the George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, where she attained her Masterās in Public Health with a concentration in maternal and child health.
Julia currently lives in northern Virginia with her husband and two children.
