The CVH Council, with support from the NACDD CVH team, is a virtual network of all CDC-funded state and local partners and their contractors addressing cardiovascular disease prevention and management. The CVH Council supports peer-to-peer networking with training, learning opportunities, and other meaningful connections among state and local health departments.

This month, the CVH Team released its newest episode of The Heart of the Matter, titled âApplying a Social Justice Framework to Cardiovascular Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.â The episode features guest speaker Robyn Taylor, VP, NACDDâs Center for Justice in Public Health. The Center diligently manages projects/programs that focus on advancing health equity, racial equity, and/or social justice.

Heart month is a moment for us to reflect on the promising work of organizations across the U.S. implementing evidence-based programs to promote cardiovascular health and prevent disease. The NACDD CVH Team published a report to highlight the lessons learned from the Million Hearts Health Equity Implementation Project.
The Multi-State EHR-Based Network for Disease Surveillance (MENDS) pilot project is a distributed network for surveillance that leverages electronic health record (EHR) data to generate timely prevalence estimates of chronic disease risk measures such as hypertension at national and local levels. Thought leadership from MENDS highlights the technologies, partnerships, and governance structure that support data sharing for public health.
