The American College of Rheumatology’s (ACR) Medical School Outreach (MSOP) project seeks to provide lupus educational resources to medical and health professional schools to help increase the number of healthcare providers (MD, DO, PA, NP) who are knowledgeable about diagnosing and treating lupus and to raise awareness of lupus signs and symptoms. Medical students only receive 90 minutes of lupus education, so these educational resources will support medical professionals in making an early diagnosis which leads to better outcomes.

The resources are complimentary and can be used as teaching tools in courses at your respective institution. Materials include PowerPoints designed to be easily incorporated into medical school lectures on a variety of topics; traditional case studies to offer examples of how lupus presents among a range of ages and races/ethnicities in a variety of cultural settings; and short teaching and educational videos to learn about lupus from experts and hear directly from lupus patients.
