Many policy efforts will begin with your representative in the U.S. House or Senate. Through the U.S. Senate’s website, you may find your state’s senator and a list of U.S. Senate Committees.

Partners in Information Access for the Public Health Workforce rounds up dozens of federal, state-level, and local web resources, allowing you track legislation and policy.
The National Conference of State Legislatures provides contact information for state-level leaders.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Chronic Disease and Health Promotion is a state-based searchable database providing policy information for preventing and controlling diseases. You’ll find bill numbers, bill history, and legislative sponsors. Additionally, the CDC offers a State Tobacco Activities Tracking and Evaluation (STATE) System containing up-to-date and historical state-level data on tobacco use prevention and control.
Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids has advocacy tools, as well as information on smoke-free laws, state tobacco taxes, and prevention and cessation programs at the state and local levels.
The National Association of State Boards of Education features a state school health policy database dating back to 1998. It covers laws, legal codes, regulations, and guidance documents related to school health. The School Nutrition Association offers state legislation and policy reports specifically related to school nutrition.
