NACDD announces Jeanne Alongi, DrPH, MPH as permanent Chief Executive Officer

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jeanne Alongi, DrPH, MPH, has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Following a competitive and rigorous national search, NACDD’s Board voted to approve Dr. Alongi’s selection during its regularly scheduled November board meeting. Alongi’s demonstrated record of leadership, strategic vision, and strong alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, core functions, and values distinguished her as the top candidate for the permanent CEO role.

“Selecting NACDD’s next leader has been an important responsibility, and the Board approached this process with great stewardship. This year-long search gave us an opportunity to carefully consider the leadership NACDD needs moving forward, and we are confident that Dr. Alongi will bring the vision, experience, and collaborative approach necessary to position the organization for continued success,” said Teresa Aseret-Manygoats, NACDD Board President. “Dr. Alongi guided the Association through a challenging period with humility, care, and a strong commitment to our Members and mission, and we are grateful for her continued service. We are excited about what lies ahead through Jeanne’s continued leadership. She is the right person at the right time for NACDD.”

Dr. Alongi has spent nearly 30 years in public health, spanning academic, national, state, and local practice settings. Alongi began in a consultant role with NACDD in 2002 and has served the organization in different roles focused on advancing public health practice and leadership for state-level chronic disease units. Alongi earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Davis, a Master of Public Health from the George Washington University, and a Doctorate in Public Health Leadership from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is the recipient of the Secretary’s Award for Distinguished Service from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“I am deeply honored and ready to lead NACDD into a new era,” said Dr. Alongi. “For more than 25 years, NACDD’s vision of a world in which all people live free from the burden of chronic disease has driven my life and career, and I care deeply about this organization and its continued success. It is a privilege to work alongside such talented and dedicated staff to serve NACDD’s Members, whose expertise, passion, and commitment inspire me every day. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with NACDD’s partners to strengthen alignment and amplify our collective efforts to ensure a healthier future for all. NACDD’s future is bright, and together we will listen, learn, and build on our strengths to serve our Members at a pivotal time for public health.”
