Communications Tools and Resources
The Communications Department is prepared to assist NACDD Members, staff, and consultants with materials and public outreach to reduce the burden of chronic disease and to promote health.
The tools and resources below detail our Department’s policies and recommended practices for working with the Communications Department as well as the Associationâs larger brand standards and policies.
Requesting Internal Communications Support
Through NACDDâs many Programs, the Communications Department regularly prepares new publications, reports, brochures, webpages, microsites, and videos to help convey the significant work our Programs and Members do every day.
For more details on the creative production process, our Monthly Editorial calendar, and how to work with the Department, please refer to NACDDâs Communications Department FAQ.
Branding Our Work
Graphic Tools
Staff and consultants can log in to NACDDâs Dropbox to access a folder of Graphic Tools, including: our Communications Guide, branding tip sheets, stock photos, NACDD-branded templates including digital letterheads, PowerPoints, report templates, and logo kits.
Logo Use and Style Guide
NACDDâs Logo Use Policy outlines the requirements for appropriate use of the Associationâs logo and a provides more details on how branding materials may and may not be used. Staff and consultants can access the logo kit on the Graphic Tools Dropbox. Download the Associationâs quick start style guide to easily reference our most important style and branding standards. Members and partners may request permission to use an NACDD logo by contacting publications@chronicdisease.org.
Branded Giveaways
There are a number of NACDD-branded giveaways that Consultants and staff can provide during meetings and events to promote the work that the Association does on a daily basis and to drive Members and partners to learn more about chronic disease prevention and control. Fill out our Communications Service Request Form to request Giveaways and view a list of available items.Â
Documenting Our Work
Release Forms and Testimonials
In some circumstances, NACDD requires the use of Release Forms for photos, videos, or quotes of our partners and program participants. View a tip sheet on when and how to complete the Release Form.
The Communications Department always is looking for quotes that the Department can share in NACDDâs publicity materials about the value the Association offers to Members and partners. Use the Feedback Form for meetings and events where partners are willing to provide testimonials about NACDDâs value and programming for that event or more broadly.
Resources for Members and Partners
Specially Developed Tools for Members and Partners
Communications Resources for Members
The Communications Department has compiled a list of royalty-free or open-source graphics, images, audio databases, and other resources to support your communications projects.
NACDDâs Communications Guide
NACDD compiled a chronic disease Communications Guide for use within our Association to help elevate, standardize, and enhance language used in discussions of chronic disease prevention and control and health promotion. The guide is updated annually. While the document is an internal one to NACDD, Member states have found it a valuable resource in developing their own style guides. Please contact publications@chronicdisease.org for questions about the style guide, attribution, or to suggest additions to the content.
COVID-19 Resource Center
Because of the close connection between COVID-19 and poor outcomes for people with chronic diseases, NACDD has a list of resources specifically to support the state and territorial Chronic Disease Unit response to COVID-19. Please visit the resource center to view a variety of webinars, fact sheets, graphics, and other items relevant to our Membersâ work.
Working With Us
Expert Guidance
Upon request, the Communications Department can provide expert guidance to Members and partners to support successful communications or dissemination of programs and activities.
National Thought Leadership in Communications
NACDD Communications Department staff sit on CDCâs State and Community Health Media Center selection committee as well as on several other national health communications advisory groups to represent Member statesâ voices on needs and interests for communications resources and materials.
Through NACDDâs Communications Advisory Team, the Association seeks input from Members in communications roles about areas of communications competencies and resource development that can help improve work at the state and territorial level.
