Kathy Foell, MS
Cardiovascular Health
Kathy Foell has been a consultant for the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors since 2012, working with the Cardiovascular Health and Diabetes teams. In her role at NACDD, Kathy edits Off the Cuff, a weekly newsletter for state staff working on CVH-related issues. The newsletter keeps public health professionals informed about innovative learning opportunities as well as the latest tools, resources, and peer-sharing opportunities. Kathy also has developed a website for health systems-related resources. She has assisted in the development and facilitation of numerous virtual meetings among State Health Department staff (communities of practice) on topics of concern for improving policies related to diabetes and cardiovascular health.
After 10 years as Director of the Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes Program at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Kathy retired in 2013 and began consulting for MDPH and assisting with the establishment of the Office of Health Information Policy and Informatics as well as the re-organization of the Bureau of Health Information, Statistics, Research and Evaluation.
Kathy has passion for two main areas in the public health arena. The first is for helping states learn from each other and work more efficiently. Secondly, she wants to help find, use, and link existing data that will help both program and evaluation staff work more closely together to plan and evaluate effective interventions and policies.
When sheās not working, Kathy enjoys her time with her husband, family, and friends. She loves playing pickleball, bridge, and making quilts, and if you ask her where she lives during the summer, be prepared to listen to lots of stories!
