Diabetes

Jane Myers is a Public Health Consultant in the Diabetes Practice Area at NACDD. Jane worked at the North Dakota Department of Health’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. In her role, she promoted the use of evidence-based practices aimed at diabetes prevention and diabetes self-management, early identification and treatment of prediabetes and diabetes, scaling the National Diabetes Prevention Program, and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) programs in North Dakota. Jane also worked to support lifestyle coaches and diabetes educators through continuing education and developed partnerships with health systems, pharmacies, community-based entities, and a land-grant university extension service to facilitate success.

Jane has more than 20 years of experience working in healthcare settings as a manager, member of the healthcare team, and coordinator of an accredited DSMES program. She provided DSMES, clinical nutrition care, and medical nutrition therapy. She also worked with community agencies on numerous projects that promoted public health.

Jane has a Bachelor of Science and has held the Certified Diabetes Educator credential since 1997. She currently is completing coursework toward a Master of Public Health through the University of North Dakota. She lives in Dickinson, N.D., with her husband, Mick. They have two grown children and two grandchildren. She enjoys time with family, hiking, bicycling, gardening, travel, good conversation, and great food.
