AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE

The NACDD Arthritis Program receives funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under Advancing Arthritis Public Health Approaches Through National Organizations, CDC-RFA-DP16-1606, which is a 5-year cooperative agreement that was initiated on September 30, 2016, and concludes on September 29, 2021. NACDD also receives funding for arthritis activities under Strengthening Public Health Systems and Services Through National Partnerships to Improve and Protect the Nation’s Health, CDC-RFA-OT18-1802, which is a 5-year cooperative agreement initiated in 2018 by CDC’s Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support.

These projects work with the CDC Arthritis Program and national partners to expand dissemination, delivery of, and access to arthritis-appropriate, evidence-based interventions (AAEBIs). The project also provides assistance to state arthritis programs to expand state-based efforts. Strategies include:

  • Disseminating arthritis-appropriate, evidence-based interventions at low or no cost to employees at worksites;
  • Collaborating with the American Physical Therapy Association chapters and physical therapy clinics to disseminate the Walk With Ease program; and,
  • Developing tools to enhance the capacity of healthcare providers to counsel and refer patients with arthritis to arthritis appropriate evidence-based interventions.
