New CBS Diabetes Broadcast Segments with Joan Lunden Now Available

Nineteen talk-show-style broadcast segments filmed with award-winning journalist Joan Lunden as the host are now showing in 13 markets during the first commercial break of each CBS local morning newscast at 6:00 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays until March 28, 2017. Dr. Ann Albright is featured along with other guests from the CDC, the medical community and participants from the CDC-recognized diabetes prevention program (DPP) as part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program.

The 2 ½ minute segments, produced in December 2016 through an NACDD grant from CDC’s Division of Diabetes Translation, highlight prediabetes and diabetes as well as complications related to diabetes and air in these markets: NYC, Philadelphia, LA, Chicago, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Sacramento, Denver, Dallas, Miami, Boston and Pittsburgh. Viewers are directed to a custom program website – www.cdc.gov/diabetesTV – where all segments are available for public viewing. States can also pay to place the messages on local CBS stations and online through CBS’ network of digital providers. Interested states should contact John Patton at jpatton@chronicdisease.org to discuss this option. Companion posters, flyers and other signage are available for order from CBS.
