NACDD Hosts Quarterly Call of the Million Hearts Collaboration

August 2021 Impact Brief

NACDD’s Cardiovascular Team hosted the quarterly call of the Million Hearts® Collaboration (MHC) on July 22, 2021. MHC organizations work together to disseminate evidence-based cardiovascular disease prevention strategies and resources, promote the use of consistent cardiovascular health messaging, and provide opportunities for states and local partners to share best practices and evidence-based approaches. Presentations included an update on the Million Hearts® Downstream Campaign.

The CDC Foundation is partnering with public and private health organizations to remind more Americans to take critical steps to take control of their heart health, which may have suffered during 2020. NACDD is a founding member of the Alliance for Million Hearts® Campaign, which helped to develop the messages and materials that will be released. More information will be available soon. CDC also shared “Making the economic case for SMBP.” Written for clinical teams, this patient facing infographic highlights the important role that statins play in reducing cholesterol. The MHC will be working with the Million Hearts® team to provide input into Million Hearts® 3.0 this Fall.

The American Heart Association, in partnership with the National Forum on Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention guides the efforts of the MHC, which includes organizations such as NACDD, ASTHO, AMA, APhA and others.
