Program Manager, Public Health Americorps

Tierney Thomison, MPH, Public Health AmeriCorps (PHA) Program Manager, brings forth more than five years of experience working in public health grants administration, budget management, and program development/implementation. Tierney joined NACDD in 2022 as the Public Senior Program Coordinator for over a year before taking on her most recent role. She oversees the development and implementation of NACDD’s Public Health AmeriCorps program, working to recruit, rain, and inspire Public Health AmeriCorps Service Members who represent the next generation of public health leaders.

Before joining NACDD, Tierney worked at the Center for Innovation in Quality, Effectiveness, and Safety, a collaborative health services research center at the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center (MEDVAMC) in Houston, Texas. Her work supported the successful acquisition and compliant management of federal grant funding, coordination of institutional contracts, and innovative approaches to process improvement. These operations supported transformative research to enhance healthcare quality and delivery through clinical practice, patient experience, and healthcare outcomes within the MEDVAMC.

Tierney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Trinity University, where she played collegiate soccer for the Trinity Tigers. She earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center in May 2022. Tierney’s career in public health stems from her passion for collaborating with communities to be the healthiest they can be. Specifically, she sees the intersection of food and nutrition security, safe opportunities for physical activity, and mental well-being as a critical space for intervention. Tierney has committed her career to the pursuit of equitable and sustainable solutions in these areas through policy, systems, and environmental change.

Tierney presently resides in Austin, Texas, and in her free time she enjoys gardening, rollerblading, playing pickleball, cooking, trying new restaurants, and teaching indoor cycling classes at her local gym.
